Bosses of Michael Moore's FAHRENHEIT 9/11 are so thrilled with the box office performance of the controversial documentary they're doubling the number screens on which it will be shown.

The critique of US President George W Bush and his policies since the 11 September (01) attacks on America grossed $23.9 million (GBP13.2 million) during its first three days of release, a record for a non-concert documentary.

And now LIONS GATE FILMS has announced plans to expand the number of screens showing the film from 868 to 1,710.

The film faces tough competition from today (30JUN04) onwards because anticipated action movie Spider-Man 2 is released.
