The 61-year-old actor, who appeared in at least 80 movies and television shows, died on Monday (24Oct16).

He played Funboy in The Crowe and shot Lee, the 28-year-old son of late martial arts legend Bruce Lee, with an improperly prepared prop gun. Brandon later died in hospital during surgery. Massee reportedly never watched the movie, which featured a stand-in for his tragic castmate.

"I don’t think you ever get over something like that," he said in a 2005 interview.

News of Massee's passing was announced on Instagram by French actor Anthony Delon. The actors worked together on the French television series Interventions in 2014.

Meanwhile, Massee's former Rizzoli and Isles co-star Angie Harmon paid tribute to the veteran actor on Twitter.

"My heart is heavy to hear of his passing," she wrote. "He was IMMENSELY talented & had the kindest soul. I am privileged to have known him."
