Veteran movie director Michael Mann has signed on for his first post-ALI project - a film about an unfit superhero who tries to get back in shape by bedding babes.

TONIGHT, HE COMES tells the story of the crime-fighter's arrival in Brooklyn and his humorous attempts to find a girl, which sends New York into disarray.

A NEW LINE executive says, "The character starts out potent and effective, and when the will to do what he's supposed to do wanes, he finds himself in this existential crisis.

"The lead character bears some resemblance to protagonists we've seen in Michael's films, played by actors like Robert De Niro or Al Pacino."

Mann is best known for crime epics including HEAT and THIEF.
