Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder have both paid tribute to jazz music legend Ray Charles, who died yesterday (10JUN04).

Charles, who was 73, passed away at his Beverly Hills home from complications caused by liver disease, surrounded by members of his family.

Jackson, 45, said, "His music is timeless, his contribution to the music industry unequalled, unparalleled.

"He paved the way for so many of us, and I will forever remember him in my heart."

SUPERSTITION singer Wonder added, "He was an incredible musician, singer, writer and a great man.

"He was just incredible because he was a great musician, he was a genius in the true meaning of the word genius. He was able to bring various genres of music together."
