Jury selection is underway in Los Angeles as Michael Jackson's mother prepares to do battle with concert giants AEG Live over her wrongful death lawsuit.
Katherine Jackson wants the promoters behind the King of Pop's doomed This Is It comeback gigs to be held responsible for his loss, insisting they were negligent in ignoring life-threatening health concerns and accusing them of hiring Conrad Murray, the medic who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter for causing the superstar's death in 2009.
She is reportedly seeking more than $40 billion from AEG Live executives for loss of future earnings and other damages.
AEG Live bosses have denied the allegations, claiming Murray was recruited by the singer himself.
The pretrial proceedings kicked off on Tuesday (02Apr13) as jury selection began in a Los Angeles court.
