After stepping aside from his long-running role on the sitcom Spin City in 2001, Michael J Fox looks as though he may be returning to television in his first staring role since he quit the political comedy series.
As the actor's battle with Parkinson's disease looked to be getting the better of him in the earlier parts of the last decade, Fox stepped aside from staring roles so he could better control his disease. However, Sony Television have recently been linked with a show that will see the Back to the Future star feature in a starring role on an as yet untitled show airing on the network in the fall of 2013. Although an executive with a direct knowledge of the potential show dropped the news, there is still uncertainty and mystery surrounding the show as Sony has yet to have any public word on the matter.
Mr. Fox was diagnosed with the disease 21 years ago, founding the non-profit Michael J. Fox Foundation to finance work on finding a potential cure for the disease. The actor spoke to ABC News earlier this year revealing that through a new combination of prescription drugs, he has come some way towards controlling his tics and tremors. Since he stepped down from his role on Spin City he has only appeared in a few guest roles on shows such as Scrubs and more recently Curb Your Enthusiasm and The Good Wife.
