Rising Australian actor Luke Arnold has been cast as tragic rocker Michael Hutchence in a new Tv biopic.
Arnold, who has previously appeared in 2009 movie Broken Hill, has seen off competition from other hopefuls to land the coveted lead role of the late Inxs frontman in new Australian mini-series Never Tear Us Apart: The Inxs Story.
The Tv show is being made with the backing of the other bandmembers and filming is expected to take place in Melbourne over the next two months.
The show is the latest in a series of projects based on Hutchence - writer/producer Robert Galinsky is making a movie called Two Worlds Colliding based on a book by the star's sister and mother, while Richard Lowenstein, who directed Hutchence in a number of Inxs videos, is working on a similar biopic called Michael.
Arnold is also set to appear in upcoming U.S. pirate drama Black Sails, which is scheduled to hit Tv screens next year (14).
Hutchence was found dead in a Sydney hotel room in 1997.
