Glastonbury Festival founder Michael Eavis was thrilled to be awarded in Queen Elizabeth II's birthday honours list, thanking the seminal music event for his CBE.
The 61-year-old was made a Commander of the Order of the British Empire in the list, which was published on the Queen's official birthday on 16 June (07).
Speaking at the launch of the festival at his Worthy Farm in south west England, Eavis says, "I've spent 37 years running my show and trying to curry favour with the authorities just to make it happen.
"I'm so pleased not only for myself, but for the hundreds and perhaps thousands of people who have had faith in me and supported my ideas through thick and thin. Most of these I call my friends and I have to thank them particularly for making the Glastonbury Festival so successful."
