The Wall Street star had to prove his own talents in the shadow of his movie legend father father Kirk Douglas, and now his 14-year-old son Dylan is hoping to lead the next generation of Douglas men in the acting world.

In an interview with comedienne Ellen DeGeneres on her U.S. talk show on Thursday (16Apr15), Douglas revealed that Dylan, whose mother is Welsh actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, is already dropping hints about his chosen career path.

Michael says, "He wants to be an actor, there's no question about it. He came to me the other day, and said, 'Dad, look, I was president of the class this last year, I made the honour roll, you saw me in (musical) Oliver... so maybe you could throw me a bone?' (get me an acting job)... The best part of it is that you learn the (celebrity) lifestyle and the hard part is establishing your own identity. I know when I started with my own father, they (critics) find the similarities and you have to try to find your own identity... but I think he's (Dylan) gonna be in fine shape. He's a really good actor."

Dylan isn't the only aspiring artist in the family - his 12-year-old sister Carys is a promising dancer.
