An ice-cream cone Michael Douglas presented to his father KIRK at the close of the final night of his one-man show brought the movie veteran to tears on Sunday night (15Mar09).
The gift may have seemed odd when the Wall Street star hit the stage at the Kirk Douglas Theater in Culver City, California, but it was a huge, symbolic gesture for his father.
During the show, Kirk revealed that his father never paid much attention to him, until one day he chose to attend his son's first acting appearance in a kindergarten play.
Douglas' dad never praised his son for his acting skills - but he bought the young Kirk an ice-cream cone.
The 92-year-old Hollywood legend revealed the cone was his "personal Oscar" which spurred him on to become an actor.
