Michael C. Hall, the 39-year-old actor and star of hit US drama 'Dexter', put on a brave face yesterday as he ate lunch in Hollywood following the announcement that he is to divorce from wife Jennifer Carpenter, reports the UK's Daily Mail. Representatives for the couple announced on Monday (13th December 2010) that they are to separate after less than two years of marriage.
The actor's wedding ring was noticeably absent yesterday as he ate lunch at a cafe in Los Angeles where he was surrounded by friends including Hollywood star Eric Dane. A recent statement made on behalf of the couple reads, "Having been separated for some time, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael C. Hall have filed for divorce". The pair play brother and sister on the hit Showtime series 'Dexter', and the show was recently renewed for a sixth season. Hall, who was diagnosed with Hodgkin's lymphoma earlier this year, recently spoke to US Weekly Magazine about how the couple's relationship did not affect their work on set, saying, "We certainly pride ourselves in being professionals. We work on the same show but we're not in every scene together".
News of the split comes after Hall was nominated for a Golden Globe in the category of 'Best Actor in a Drama Series'. However, the 39-year-old faces stiff competition from Steve Buscemi, Bryan Cranston, Hugh Laurie, and 'Mad Men's' Jon Hamm.
