Crooner Michael Bolton is suing his former lawyer ROBERT SUGERMAN, claiming the attorney deceived him in a multi-million plagiarism scandal.

Bolton had to pay $5 million (GBP2.9 million) after losing a plagiarism battle against The Isley Brothers last year (03), after they claimed he'd stolen his 1991 hit LOVE IS A WONDERFUL THING from them.

But now he has reportedly discovered he could have settled the matter out of court for just $700,000 (GBP411,760) - but Sugerman failed to reveal there was a chance to settle before trial.

Bolton says the actions of his former attorney were a "shocking and gross betrayal".
