Miami Vice star Don Johnson has been granted $23.2 million (GBP15.4 million) in a battle with TV executives over profits from his 1990s show NASH BRIDGES.
The actor sued bosses at production company Rysher Entertainment, Inc. last year (Feb09), claiming he was owed half the profits from the show because he owned half of the cop drama's copyright, and on Wednesday (07Jul10) he was victorious.
He suggested the series bosses earned more than $300 million (£200 million) in revenues and more than $150 million (£100 million) from syndication, and called for a $100 million (GBP66.6 million) settlement.
A judge at Los Angeles County Superior Court ruled in Johnson's favour on Wednesday (07Jul10), although the settlement awarded fell considerably short of the compensation the star had asked for.
The 60-year-old star played a San Francisco cop in the hit TV series.
