Actress and human rights activist Mia Farrow has called on U.S. lawmakers to tighten gun control legislation following yet another school shooting on Tuesday (22Jan13).
Three people were injured in a shooting at a library on campus at the Lone Star College in north Harris County, Texas on Tuesday afternoon. One suspect was taken into custody, while a second suspected shooter was arraigned hours later following an extensive search by Fbi agents.
The latest gun-related incident has prompted Farrow to demand politicians move forward with U.S. President Barack Obama's proposals to impose stricter rules on weapons sales and ownership.
In a series of Twitter.com posts, Farrow writes, "Omg (oh my god) Lone Star Campus shooting... Second Amendment (right to bear arms) must be adjusted!!
"That gun-shooting is 'fun' doesn't cut it anymore. And delusional paranoia is not a justifiable reason to keep weapons. Ban semi-auto guns."
Meanwhile, actresses Eliza Dushku and Holly Robinson Peete have expressed their shock at the news, and Chad Lowe tweets: "Another day another school shooting. Pray for the strength & courage to end gun violence & the will to care for our mentally ill."
The current gun control debate was amped up last month (Dec12) when 20 children were killed during a massacre at Connecticut's Sandy Hook Elementary School.
