Electro-pop stars MGMT felt "uncomfortable" at this year's (10) Grammy Awards - insisting the show is more like a "giant marketing campaign" than a prize-giving ceremony.
The Kids hitmakers were nominated for two honours at the Grammys in January (10), including Best New Artist and Best Pop Performance by a Duo/Group.
But singer Andrew VanWyngarden insists the band felt like outsiders at the Los Angeles event, because the whole show was focused around a handful of high-profile artists.
He tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "We felt honoured to have been nominated, but the whole event and that kind of experience itself, we felt really uncomfortable the whole time. It almost feels like it's a giant marketing campaign for five or six bands. We just kind of felt like, 'What are we doing here?', like, 'Wow, we've infiltrated this kind of upper-level mainstream and we're so weird'."
