Metallica star Lars Ulrich denies "turning his back" on longtime collaborator Bob Rock in favour of music producer Rick Rubin.
The rockers hired Rubin for their tenth studio album Death Magnetic and Ulrich insists they made the right decision.
But the drummer is adamant the heavy metal stars haven't broken off all ties with Rock.
He says, "We didn't really turn our back (on Rock).
"We stood face-to-face and hugged and shook hands and said goodbye. It doesn't mean we won't ever see him behind the desk again."
