Family get-togethers were dangerous affairs for Metallica rocker Robert Trujillo growing up - his cousins were all in rival California gangs.
The bassist was born and raised in Culver City, California, and most of his cousins were involved in gang-related violence - often clashing with members of their own family from a neighbouring city.
Trujillo tells about his upbringing: "It was interesting. A lot of my cousins were in gangs. Some of them were in gangs in Culver City, and some of them were in gangs in Venice.
"If you're from California you'll know that those two cities don't get along. It made family get-togethers interesting. You couldn't always have the same people there, let's put it that way."
