Metallica hope they have influenced dance music.
The 'Creeping Death' band are known for pioneering the thrash metal genre and were one of the fastest bands around in the early 80s, which they think may have influenced the bass-heavy, fast paced Electronic Dance music [EDM] which is around today.
Guitarist Kirk Hammett told NME.com: ''I'm wondering if our music had an influence on that because at one point Metallica was the fastest band in the land, the fastest band in the music industry. In EDM the beats are really fast and I wonder if people have been influenced by us, the people making the dance music.''
He said: ''I'm a big fan of Squarepusher, and I don't know if that even qualifies, but I like drum 'n' bass and I like when people push the envelope and incorporate other styles I love what [Squarepusher's] doing with jazz rhythms and funk rhythms and basslines, it adds kind of a punk presence too - that stuff is mad, insane.''
He said: ''I went and saw Skrillex at a festival in San Francisco a couple of years ago and was absolutely blown away, not just by what he was delivering but the whole experience and seeing 30,000 odd 14-year-old kids going f***ing ape***t.''
Metallica's 'Through the Never' concert movie is released on October 4.
'Wilson', starring both Dern and Harrelson, is released in U.S. cinemas on March 24th.
