Cult Swedish rockers Meshuggah have been forced to pull out of a festival in Finland this weekend (05-07Jun09) to allow drummer TOMAS HAAKE to fully recover from back surgery.
Haake re-injured his back while rehearsing for the Sauna Open Air festival, and the group has decided to pull the plug on their appearance.
The drummer underwent surgery to remove a disc hernia in his lower back, causing him pain while performing.
A spokesman for the band says, "While rehearsing for the summer festivals... Tomas' back started acting up again. This is of course an indication that too much strain was put on Tomas' back too soon after surgery.
"We were really confident we would make this happen but since the spine and its nerves are things you have to really take care of, we feel that this setback that Tomas had a few days ago means we're regrettably forced to cancel the Sauna Open Air festival. It really sucks."
Meshuggah hope this is the only upcoming show they'll have to cancel.
