Meredith Vieira has indicated that while she is stepping down as co-host of NBC's Today show, she would like to keep her job as quizmistress on the syndicated Who Wants To Be A Millionaire . In an interview with today's (Tuesday) New York Post , Vieira maintained that she does not know whether a deal with Valleycrest Productions, a unit of the Walt Disney Co., which syndicates Millionaire can be wrapped up rather quickly. "Something's going to be decided soon, obviously," she told the Post , noting that the show is due to begin taping in August. The Post , citing an insider, said that the sticking point is over money, with the producers wanting to cut back her current fee. Vieira, meanwhile, denied reports that she is leaving the Today show in order to care for her husband, former CBS News producer Richard Cohen, who continues to battle MS and colon cancer. She insisted that her husband "is doing well" and that she wants to enjoy life with him -- "and not feel the pressure of a job that requires you [to be] there very day." Millionaire is taped just three days a week.
