Melissa McCarthy is set to have a cameo role in 'The Hangover 3'.

The 42-year-old actress - who gained an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her role in 'Bridesmaids' in 2011 - is planning on taking on a minor role in the forthcoming movie, if schedules can be worked out.

'The Hangover 3' is currently being filmed with lead actors Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis, while other regulars including Mike Tyson, Justin Bartha and Gillam Vigman are all lined up for a role, with Heather Graham also returning.

It is not known exactly what part Melissa will be playing, other than that is a very small role.

The third film in the comedy franchise - directed by Todd Phillips - will see the characters head out on a road trip, with rumours Zach's alter-ego Alan will need help escaping from an institution.

Melissa is due to star in comedy movies 'The Heat', opposite Sandra Bullock, as well as 'This is 40' alongside Paul Rudd and Megan Fox.

'The Hangover 3' is due in cinemas on May 24, 2013.
