Melissa Etheridge is poised to become a TV star, after signing up to appear in her own sitcom.
The AIN'T IT HEAVY singer says the show is still in development with US TV network ABC.
She explains, "(The show is about) what my life might have been like had I not left to find my fame and fortune, and stayed in Kansas and became a teacher and been gay and dealt with life there."
The two-time Grammy winner adds she doesn't want to rely on touring to make a living, and a TV show would allow her to "be home for dinner".
Etheridge, who has spent much of last year fighting breast cancer, recently announced plans to have a baby with her partner TAMMY LYNN MICHAELS.
The 43-year-old singer already has two children from her relationship with JULIE CYPHER.
