Los Angeles police are launching an investigation into how details of actor Mel Gibson's July (06) arrest for drink driving were leaked to the press. Sources at the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department confirm the Department raided the home of arresting officer Deputy JAMES MEE last month (13SEP06), according to TMZ.com. Among the items confiscated for scrutiny were his computer and phone records. Mee is allegedly suspected of leaking four pages of the original arrest report to the website that first broke news of the incident and subsequent anti-Semitic rant. MICHAEL GENNACO, Chief Attorney for the Office of Independent Review, the oversight panel for the Sheriff's Department, says a "complete and robust" investigation into the handling of the case cannot be undertaken until the criminal investigation into the leak is resolved.
