Mel Gibson is set to do battle with 'The Hangover 2', when his new movie 'The Beaver' is released just weeks before the highly anticipated ZACH GALIFIANKIS comedy sequel.
MEL GIBSON, the Australian actor whose new movie 'The Beaver' has had its release date pushed back from 28th March 2011 to 6th May 2011, will now go head-to-head with films such as 'The Hangover 2' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides'. The Hangover 2 is set to be one of the biggest comedy movies of the year and Gibson was initially scheduled to make a cameo in the film but his part was later scrapped amidst rumours of a rift with actor Zach Galifianakis. The BBC reported that director Todd Phillips had wanted to cast Gibson as a tattoo artist but conceded that he did not have "the full support of my entire cast and crew". 'The Beaver', which is scheduled to premiere at the South by Southwest Festival in March, follows the story of a troubled husband (Gibson) who begins to use a beaver hand-puppet as a means of communicating with his family.
The film is set to hit cinemas on the same day as 'Thor' and the 3-D movie 'Priest', starring Paul Bettany. The much anticipated 'Water For Elephants' will be released just two days before 'The Beaver' and in the weeks that follow, 'X-Men: First Class' will hit screens
