British actress Meera Syal is urging British officials to clamp down on internet bullying after her daughter was allegedly targeted via
The Goodness Gracious Me star's daughter Chameli Bhatia, 19, was recently cleared of accusations she attacked a friend with a glass at a party, and during the court proceedings, it emerged she had suffered at the hands of 'cyber-bullies'.
Syal has now spoken out against internet bullying, insisting more should be done to protect youngsters.
She tells Britain's Sunday Telegraph, "I suspect there are very few parents in the country whose children have not been subject to cyber-bullying, whether by internet, Blackberry messenger, or text. While I am a passionate defender of free speech I think the time has come to examine carefully when a freely expressed opinion turns into something akin to victimisation and trial by media."
