British boy band McFly were honoured to re-record The Who's 1965 hit My Generation with the band's frontman ROGER DALTREY - but they insist they contributed nothing to it.

The I'LL BE OK chart-toppers teamed up with Daltrey to launch British music store HMV's new music download website on Sunday (04SEP05), and the track will also benefit the Teenage Cancer Trust charity.

But the heart-throbs were terrified of "ruining" the world-famous anthem, as even Daltrey himself admits it is a "difficult song", so they attempted to emulate the original parts as best they could.

Frontman TOM FLETCHER says, "It's such a well-known, great song. We didn't want to change it or ruin it in any way, so we just stayed as close to the original as possible, and did our best to play all the parts that The Who did all those years ago.

"With Roger singing it just makes it sound so much better."
