Matthew Perry is set to star as a grown-up version of Zac Efron in a new film.

In 17 the FRIENDS star will play a middle-aged father who wakes up to find he is a teenage boy.

HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL star Efron will play the younger version of Perry's character who enrols in high school to spy on his kids.

The film will be directed by BURR STEERS whose previous projects include IGBY GOES DOWN.

Perry's previous big screen hits include FOOLS Rush IN, THREE TO TANGO and THE WHOLE NINE YARDS.

He has just finished filming THE LAWS OF MOTION with Hilary Swank and has been focussing on his starring role in STUDIO 60 ON THE SUNSET STRIP.

The film will provide Efron with his first leading role since he played Troy Bolton in the popular HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL films.

17 is expected to be released in 2008.
