Matthew Broderick has sparked rumours he could be set to reprise his role as Ferris Bueller.

The Hollywood actor - who starred as the titular character in the 1986 movie 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off' - has recreated the opening scene from the film in a 10-second clip for a Super Bowl advert.

The 49-year-old star is shown in a hotel room donning a white bath robe where he says, 'How can I handle work on a day like today?', a similar sentence to his opening line in the motion picture.

Charlie Sheen and Jennifer Grey made early appearances in the movie, which also starred Alan Ruck as Ferris Bueller's best friend and Mia Sara played his girlfriend.

Since starring in the movie, Matthew has gone on to voice the older version of Simba in 1994 film 'The Lion King', and he has also appeared in 'The Cable Guy' and 'Godzilla'.
