British funnyman Matt Lucas almost quit his stage career before it had even begun after he was heckled by an audience member as he delivered his first line.
The Little Britain star was a young actor trying to build a career in theatre when he suffered a nasty experience during a production of Shakespeare's Troilus and Cressida.
He was stunned when a female audience member made a disapproving "tutting" sound during his opening dialogue - but he vowed not to let it dent his confidence and wreck his dreams of a career in showbiz.
Lucas tells Britain's Sunday Express magazine, "I thought, 'I've only done four syllables - give us a chance!' It was worse than any heckle I ever had doing comedy. It's a wonder I ever got back on stage."
