The rockers were delighted to film cameo appearances in the popular fantasy series, playing a group of savages known as 'wildlings', who are killed and then come back from the dead as reanimated corpses.

Drummer Brann Dailor says of the band's brief Game of Thrones tenure, "It was such an incredible experience to be on set as extras for our collective favourite show Game of Thrones, and to be wildlings murdered and then brought back to life by White Walkers was beyond amazing. I watched my best friends, Brent (singer Brent Hinds) and Bill (guitarist Bill Kelliher), murdered right in front of me as I myself was stabbed in the stomach and had my throat slit multiple times, and I didn't mind at all... We are more than privileged and honoured to have been a part of one of the greatest stories ever told on film - and the catering wasn't bad either."

Other stars to have made appearances in the show include Coldplay rocker Will Champion, who played a musician at a wedding, Wilko Johnson, who portrayed executioner Ilyn Payne, Snow Patrol frontman Gary Lightbody, who was a singing solider in season three, and Icelandic rockers Sigur Ros, who appeared as entertainers at the wedding of King Joffrey.
