R+B queen Mary J Blige has returned to the top of the US albums chart after ringing in the New Year (06) at number one.

The FAMILY AFFAIR singer debuted The Breakthrough at number one at the end of 2005 and was then displaced by Jamie Foxx's new album UNPREDICTABLE.

But now she's back on top thanks to a heavy marketing campaign and fourth-week sales of 118,000.

Foxx dropped to number two, while AMERICAN IDOL star Carrie Underwood's SOME HEARTS, newlywed Eminem's CURTAIN CALL best of and Notorious BIG's DUETS: THE FINAL CHAPTER round out the top five.

Meanwhile, rockers The Strokes' third album, FIRST IMPRESSIONS OF EARTH, suffered a shock fall, plummeting from four to number 18 on the new Billboard chart.
