Retired tennis star Martina Navratilova has won her battle against breast cancer.
The nine-time Wimbledon champion was diagnosed with the condition after a routine mammogram in February (10) and underwent a lumpectomy.
She began a six-week course of radiation therapy in May (10) and, after receiving her final treatment last week (16Jun10), the sports legend has been given the all-clear by doctors.
Speaking at the 2010 Wimbledon tournament in England, she revealed, "I was very lucky. I dodged a bullet - a big one. And here I am at Wimbledon, cancer-free and feeling pretty good. Hopefully it won't come back. There is a heightened chance of other cancers but a very slight one.
"I didn't know there was such a thing as a good cancer but I certainly got one. It was a wake-up call, no doubt about it."
