Martina Hingis, the retired Swiss tennis player who won five Grand Slam singles titles, has married the French show-jumper THIBAULT HUTIN, in Paris, according to People Magazine. The 30-year-old wed Hutin in the Neuilly-sur-Seine suburb of the French capital on Friday (10th December 2010) and the reception was held in the Presidential Suite of the city's Hotel George V.
The couple met at a show-jumping competition in St Tropez back in April 2010, shortly after the former tennis professional had ended her long-term engagement to the Swiss attorney ANDREAS BIERI. After the ceremony, Hingis was quoted as saying, "Our wedding may take some by surprise, but it has all been planned for some time". Hingis and Hutin are now expected to honeymoon in the Maldives and a traditional 'Swiss wedding feast' will be celebrated in the Spring of 2011.
Despite being regarded as one of the greatest female players of all time, Hingis' tennis career was dogged by injury, forcing her to retire from the circuit at the age of 22. She made a brief comeback in 2005, but had to retire once-more just two years later.
