Veteran film director Martin Scorsese has pleaded with America to listen to the controversial out-bursts of documentary maker Michael Moore.

Moore slammed American President George W Bush, as well as his stance on war, when he collected his OSCAR at Sunday's (23MAR03) Academy Awards in Los Angeles.

Although outspoken Moore - who took the Best Documentary gong for BOWLING FOR COLUMBINE - offended a large section of the audience with his tirade, the Gangs of New York director is angry he was shouted down.

Scorsese - who's also criticised Bush's Iraq policy - says, "Even if the guy is saying something we don't like, we still have to hear him out."
