Martha Stewart, the American television personality and lifestyle guru whose daughter is expecting a baby via surrogate, says she is 'excited' to be a grandmother, reports the Seattle Post. Stewart's daughter Alexis has reportedly turned to a surrogate mother to help her begin a family after she failed to conceive via IVF.
Alexis and her attorney husband JOHN CUTI divorced in 2004 but the 45-year-old was still keen to start a family and chose a woman in Pennsylvania to carry her child, which is due in the Spring of 2011. 69-year-old Stewart, whose syndicated talk-show 'Martha' is broadcast around the world, was said to be delighted by the news, a family insider said, "Martha is so excited to be a grandma. But she is also happy because her only daughter's dream is finally coming true".
In 2004, Stewart avoided a loss of over $45,000 by selling all of her shares in 'ImClone Systems Stock' after receiving non-public information from a broker. The day after the sale, the stock value fell by 16%. The television host was convicted of lying to investigators concerning the sale and served five months in prison. During her incarceration, she took a job as an informal liaison between admin and inmates.
