Martha Stewart has become a grandmother for the first time.
Martha Stewart, the American business magnate and television personality, has become a grandmother after her daughter Alexis welcomed a baby daughter, reports People Magazine.Alexis was born via gestational carrier on Tuesday (8th March 2011) and has been named 'Jude'. Speaking recently on her radio show 'Whatever with Alexis & Jennifer', the 45-year-old said her mother wouldn't be the typical grandma, saying, "Martha is going to be called Martha. She seemed to have no problem with it. ... I was like, Do you really want to be grandma? I don't like the term grandma!" Alexis has spoken openly about her struggle to conceive in recent years and told People Magazine in 2007 that she was spending more than $20,000 each month on fertility treatments.
Alexis was born in 1965 when Martha Stewart was married to her husband Andrew. The couple divorced in 1989 and Stewart later dated the actor Sir Anthony Hopkins but the relationship was short lived after Martha reportedly struggled with disassociating Hopkins from his character in 'Silence of the Lambs'.
