Mark Wahlberg has explained his menacing ad-lib at the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday night (03Jun12), insisting he was was defending co-presenter Mila Kunis' honour from the stage.
TV viewers watched as the movie star halted the show to exchange words with a vulgar heckler, who had shouted out something obscene intended for Kunis as she took to the stage to present Jennifer Aniston with her Dirtbag of the Year trophy.
Neither Kunis nor Wahlberg are repeating what the unruly audience member shouted out, but it was enough for the actor to state, "Excuse me? What did he say?" before adding, "And here I thought I was going to have to slap Russell."
He also uttered an expletive that was bleeped out of the telecast.
Explaining himself and his comments on Monday (04Jun12), Wahlberg said, "When I came onstage, some random heckler in the crowd said something vulgar to Mila. So that's why I got a little upset. I did say somebody was going to get slapped, but I figure it's Sunday, I went to church, I'm feeling forgiving right now."
