Former TAKE THAT star Mark Owen's comeback quest for solo stardom has been dealt a major blow - he's been dropped by his second record label.

The struggling singer enjoyed a resurgence of fame after winning British reality TV show Celebrity Big Brother in 2002, but has since failed to garner a strong enough fanbase to succeed as a solo artist.

A spokesman for ISLAND RECORDS confirms, "We're no longer working with Mark Owen."

But Owen is refusing to give up on his musical goals - he's launched his own label and already has a single poised for release.

His manager says, "It wasn't really working out with Island and he's set up his own label, SEDNA RECORDS. He's not giving up - at the moment he's casting for his next video and his single should be out at the end of May (04)."
