Mario Testino, the acclaimed Peruvian fashion photographer, has taken two official photographs to mark the engagement of Prince William to Kate Middleton, reports the UK’s Guardian newspaper. Testino was said to be the late Princess Diana’s favourite photographer, and was also her close friend.
In the photographs, which began circulating on the internet today (12th December 2010), Prince William and Middleton appear in a casual embrace, with the bride-to-be prominently displaying her large sapphire engagement ring. The 28-year-old wears jeans and a white shirt, while the Prince sports jeans with a brown jumper that was supplied by Testino himself. In the second shot, which is a more formal image taken in St James’s Palace, the couple stand amongst paintings of the Prince’s ancestors.
Testino is highly regarded for his royal portraiture and took photographs at Prince William’s 21st birthday back in 2003, as well as at Prince Harry’s 20th in 2004. The photographer has also taken some of the most iconic fashion images of-all-time and has shot the likes of Claudia Schiffer, Kate Moss, Emma Watson, Cameron Diaz and Julia Roberts. Speaking about his latest royal snaps, Testino said, “They are in their prime and brimming with happiness. I have never felt so much joy as when I see them together”.
