Marianne Faithfull was party to a fabled cover-up surrounding the death of late The Doors frontman Jim Morrison - but she "split" the rocker's Paris, France hotel home when she realised what was going on. In a new U.S. TV documentary, chronicling the last day of Morrison's life, the rocker's former record label boss, Steve Harris, echoes recent revelations made by Paris club manager Sam Bernett by claiming the Light My Fire hitmaker did not die in a bathtub, as reported. Like Bernett, Harris reveals Morrison's dead body was taken back to the hotel suite he was sharing with girlfriend Pamela Courson after the rocker died of a heroin overdose at nearby club the Rock `N' Roll Circus. On the Biography channel's series Final 24, which aired on Wednesday night (31Oct07), Harris stated, "It was heroin. So they bring Jim home and he's dead. And they put him in the bathtub." And the former Elektra Records executive claimed Faithfull is one of the only people who could testify to the facts surrounding Morrison's death. He added, "There's a knock on the door. Pam goes and opens the door. You know who it is? Marianne Faithfull. She saw what was going on and she split." Morrison died on 3 July, 1971, aged 27.
