ALICIA KEYS scooped three honours at the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACP) annual Image Awards yesterday (25FEB06).

The FALLIN' hitmaker put comeback queen Mariah Carey in the shade, after being named Best Female Artist, as well as earning Outstanding Song and Outstanding Video awards for UNBREAKABLE. Carey's The Emancipation Of Mimi was feted as the Best Album.

Oscar-nominated film CRASH won the top movie award, while Terrence Howard was named Best Supporting Actor for his role in the racial drama. Howard also won Best Actor in a TV Movie or Mini-series for Lackawanna Blues.

The Bernie Mac Show was another big winner with three top honours. Star Bernie Mac won Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series, his co-star Camille Winbush was crowned Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, while Millicent Shelton earned a top television directing accolade.

Funnyman Chris Rock triumphed with his acclaimed semi-autobiographical show Everybody Hates Chris, which was named Best Television Series.

Veteran actor Samuel L Jackson was honoured for aspirational movie Coach Carter.

The ceremony was hosted by Cuba Gooding JR and hits US TV screens on 3 March (06).
