Pregnant Mariah Carey constantly fought back tears as she recorded her new Christmas album - because she was feeling overly emotional in the early months of carrying her child.
The Hero hitmaker hit the studio earlier this year (10) to record Merry Christmas II You, which has since stormed the U.S. charts.
Carey knew she was pregnant at the time, and she admits her hormones made her prone to teary moments.
She tells Britain's Hello! magazine, "I was feeling emotional because for a lot of it I was in the very early stages of pregnancy, and singing Christmas songs as opposed to recording a regular album was a perfect fit with the way I was feeling.
"There was a calmness that I'd never felt before, and I also felt very connected when singing the more spiritual, gospel-tinged songs. It was nice."
Carey and husband Nick Cannon are due to welcome their baby in the spring (11).
