Maria Shriver put on a brave face as she joined Oprah Winfrey onstage in Chicago, Illinois on Tuesday (17May11), just hours after her estranged husband Arnold Schwarzenegger confessed publicly to fathering a child with another woman.
The former TV news anchor's troubled personal life hit the headlines last week (ends13May11) when Schwarzenegger announced the couple had split after 25 years of marriage.
Shriver was dealt a further blow on Tuesday (17May11) when it was revealed the actor-turned-politician had fathered a son with a member of their household staff more than 10 years ago.
Shriver addressed the shocking reports in a statement, admitting it was "a painful and heartbreaking time".
But California's former First Lady was all smiles as she took part in the taping of Winfrey's farewell talk show at Chicago's United Center arena.
Dressed in a sparkling blue gown, Shriver paid tribute to the TV titan, telling her, "You've given me love, support, wisdom and most of all, the truth."
Some of Hollywood's biggest stars, such as Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise, Will Smith and Madonna, made appearances during the big send-off to Winfrey, who is wrapping up her daily talk show after 25 years. The final episode will air on U.S. TV next week (26May11).
