**File Photo * BERNIE NOLAN DEAD AT 52 Irish singer BERNIE NOLAN has died at the age of 52. The Nolans star passed away on Thursday (04Jul13) after losing a long battle with breast cancer. She was first diagnosed with the disease in 2010 and was given the all-clear after six months of treatment, but last October (12) she revealed the cancer had returned. In March (13), it emerged Nolan was losing her fight for life and had moved out of a hospice to end her days at her home in Surrey, England. She died at the property on Thursday. A spokesman for the star says, "Bernie passed away peacefully this morning with all of her family around her,. The entire family are devastated to have lost beloved Bernie, a wonderful wife, adoring mother and loving sister, she is irreplaceable. They kindly ask people to respect their privacy at this difficult time." Bernie Nolan was the lead singer of the singing siblings girl group, which shot to fame in 1979 when their track I'm In the Mood for Dancing became a global hit, and the band went on to sell millions of records worldwide. When the group's success began to wane in the mid-1980s, she moved into acting, and in 1994 she left The Nolans to pursue it full-time after an acclaimed role in stage play The Devil Rides Out. In 2000, Nolan landed a regular role in respected British soap opera Brookside before switching to crime drama The Bill in 2002, where she stayed for three years before leaving in 2005. She continued to enjoy theatre and TV roles in the U.K., and in 2005 she also revived her singing career by releasing her debut solo album, All By Myself. Nolan leaves her husband Steve Doneathy, their teenage daughter Erin, and her sisters/bandmates Anne, Denise, Maureen, Linda, and Coleen Nolan, and brothers Brian and Tommy. File Photos' * VIVIAN CAMPBELL IS BATTLING CANCER DEF LEPPARD rocker VIVIAN CAMPBELL is battling cancer. The guitarist, who joined the Animal hitmakers in 1992, went for tests earlier this year (13) after developing a "cough that wouldn't quit". Medics have since diagnosed him with Hodgkin's lymphoma and recommended a six-month bout of chemotherapy. A statement provided by Campbell to Billboard.com reads: "I'm about two months in and feeling rather spiffy, all things considered. Hodgkin's has an over 80 per cent cure rate, so by my reckoning, if you're going to have a cancer, Hodgie's is the one to have!" The rocker, 50, is still planning to join Def Leppard on tour later this year (13), adding, "Me and my new aerodynamic hairstyle (read: no hair) are going on tour this summer with the band and I don't want anyone to be so shocked by my new look that they ask for a refund. Simple economics, really."
