Madonna will play the prestigious half-time show at Super Bowl Xlvi on February 5th, it's finally been confirmed after months of rumors. With previous stars including Bruce Springsteen, Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and U2 among many others, it's perhaps no surprise that Madge would eventually be invited to perform at the event. MTV reports that the truncated set will also feature the Cirque De Soleil who will "imagine" the aesthetic along with the star's long time creative director Jamie King. Coming two days before the release of her directed English drama 'W.E,' the performance will also double as a useful promotional tie-in.
Some of the more recent half-time show performances include Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers and The Who, whilst the Black Eyed Peas were an uncharacteristically younger choice last year, performing a 15 minute mash-up of their best hits as well as being joined by GUNS N' ROSES guitarist Slash for a cover of 'Sweet Child O' Mine' and Usher for 'Omg'. Of course the most notorious of recent times was Janet Jackson's unfortunate clothing malfunction in 2004 when performing with Justin Timberlake, her top slipping to reveal one of the horrified star's breasts.
Madonna is pretty busy with her music at the moment, proof in the pudding being the leak of two new tracks last months. It's since been revealed that Nicki Minaj and Mia collaborated on one of those ' Give Me All Your Love', with the latter Tweeting, "Summond to Nyc by bitchesses Madonna and Nicki Minaj."
