The New York socialite who inspired Macaulay Culkin's 2003 movie Party Monster has been released from prison after serving 17 years behind bars for killing his roommate.
Michael Alig confessed to the murder of Andre Melendez in 1997, admitting that he and co-defendant Robert Riggs cut up his body and dumped the parts in the Hudson River.
The party planner, who served his time at the Mid-State Correctional Facility in Marcy, New York, was released on Monday (05May14), and celebrated by signing on to Twitter.com and posting a photo of himself eating a burrito.
Riggs also pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was jailed. He was released in 2010.
Culkin portrayed Alig in Party Monster.
