M83; Suede and The Weeknd are among the final acts to be announced for the inaugural Optimus Primavera Sound Festival at Parque da Cidade in Portugal. They will join previously announced acts The XX; Bjork; Death Cab For Cutie; Rufus Wainwright and Veronica Falls.
The main attraction will, no doubt, be the reformed Suede, who got back together in 2010. The British band, which formed in 1989, is widely credited for kicking off the Britpop movement of the 90's, despite the group wanting nothing to do with the acts that followed. Their most recent release was a compilation album, entitled The Best of Suede. It was released in 2010 and received critical acclaim.
M83 has shot to international fame after the release of Hurry Up, We're Dreaming in October 2011 and from it, the lead single Midnight City, which is currently being used for the BBC's London Olympics coverage on the channel, as well as the theme for the reality show Made In Chelsea.
Optimus Primavera Sound is a new festival from the promoters of the same name. It will be held in the Portuguese city of Porto. The San Miguel Primavera Sound has been held annually in Barcelona since 2001. In the past, it has seen artists such as Fleet Foxes; PJ Harvey; Pet Shop Boys and Florence and the Machine perform. This year, the line up at both festivals is expected to overlap, with bands such as the AFGHAN WHIGS and the aforementioned Death Cab For Cutie and The xx playing at both festivals.
