Swedish filmmaker Lukas Moodysson's movie adaptation of his wife's graphic novel picked up the top film prize at the Tokyo International Film Festival in Japan on Friday (25Oct13).

We Are the Best! was named the winner of the 2013 Sakura Grand Prix as the festival came to a close.

The film, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in Italy, revolves around three Stockholm teenagers who form a punk band.

Iceland's Benedikt Erlingsson picked up Tokyo's Best Director honours for his film Of Horses and Men, while Wang Jingchun was named Best Actor for his role in To Live and Die in Ordos, and the Best Actress trophy went to Eugine Domingo for Barber's Tales.

Lee Ju-hyoung's Red Family picked up the Audience Award and Iranian director Behnam Behzadi took home the Special Jury Prize for Bending the Rules.
