Well-read rapper Ludacris was left red faced after seeking entry into a prestigious American university's secret society, after mistaking it for a literary club.
The star - real name Christopher Bridges - contacted heads of the exclusive organisation, Manuscript, in attempt to join the group - one of 12 secret societies at Connecticut's Yale University, according to the New York Post.
Bridges' representative allegedly made a call "under the mistaken idea that Manuscript is a literary society", insisting the star would be "honoured" to become a member under his real name.
But the hip-hop star was knocked back - because members can only be elected with the consent of the current alumni.
The source adds: "The club said absolutely not. It's just not done."
