An Unpopular Statue Of Late Comedienne Lucille Ball Is Set To Be Replaced After A Fan Made A $20,000 (£12,500) Donation.
A bronze sculpture of the I Love Lucy star was erected in Celoron, New York, the village where Ball grew up, in 2009, but many locals were unhappy with the look of the piece and branded it an eyesore.
Officials recently agreed to move the statue to a comedy centre in the nearby town of Jamestown, where Ball was born, following an online campaign, and now Celoron residents are set to get a replacement after a businessman handed over $20,000 to fund a new commission.
The New York Post reports Ernie Boch made the donation because he is a big fan of Ball.
The funnywoman died in 1989 at the age of 77.
